So, when the time came to shoot the scene, she told him to imagine his mommy had died - and he cried so hard the director was worried about him. To prepare the little rat boy for the scene in which he cries when Ze pequeno shot his partner in a foot, acting coach worked with the child (who had never acted before) and discovered his biggest fear was to lose his mother. When he confirmed, they asked if he could write a sequel for them to star in. One day, during a pause of the shooting the group of kids who played the Runts approached screenwriter Braulio Mantovani and asked him if it was true that the movie would end with their characters controlling the slum. So Renato de Souza improvised, telling his young brother "not to laugh at him". The laughter was not scripted, but Luis Ot?vio couldn't stop it. There's a scene in which the young Buscap? (Luis Ot?vio) laughs at his brother Marreco (Renato de Souza) after the latter is slapped by their father. Later on, some clients complained to the management that they heard gunshots in some of the other rooms. Second best yung editing, inventive and feels original. Gagaling umacting, parang totoo.įor me, the best talaga sa movie yung cinematography, the gritty-slum-hot look of the place was perfectly captured by the dp. The characters too are very memorable, Lil 'Dice (lil ze), rocket, carrot, knokout ned, bene and the runts. The movie has a fast pace, energetic feel from start to finish, once it starts, it will hit you and never ceases up till the end. The non linear storyline similar to works of tarantino also made the movie more compelling to watch. Plus the editing, cinematography and sound design of the movie are all excellent. I like how the film is shot like a documentary, it adds a stark feel of reality to it. Alam ko na mas marami pang pelikula dyan ang mas violent ang dating kesa sa pelikulang ito but because the film is rooted on reality, the violent scenes are truly horrifying and absorbing. I like ultraviolent films and this one is on top of my list. So when i saw the film, all i can say is it was absolutely compelling. so nung nakakita ako ng Pdvd nito, i immediately bought one coz i cant see it in any other way. ![]() ![]() But as more and more reviews i read and because of its gushing reviews from people, i was intrigued. Reading from the reviews from internet sites, at first hindi ako naiimpress because i thought that the story was just plain and simple ghetto life. Matagal ko ng nababasa ang tungkol sa film na ito pero kailan ko lang napanood.
